Prosthodontics Review Course: Implant Complications: Fixed or Removable Prostheses-Can It Happen to Anyone?
It is not well understood why implants integrate, and why they de-integrate. Complications occur, with seemingly increased incidence, for both implant-supported fixed and removable prostheses. Knowledge gained by teaching at three NYC metropolitan area graduate programs for the past decade and a half has revealed many of these “complications.” This interactive program will share attendee’s thoughts on solutions, or better yet, approaches to avoid these undesirable events.

At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:
• Identify the difference between Biologic and Biomechanical Implant Failures.
• Discuss that removable prostheses can be the best first treatment.
• Describe the concept of fatigue and avoid causative factors of fatigue failure
